Qualifications

• BSN required; ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years.
• Illinois RN license required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments per unit guidelines and recognize signs of abuse/neglect.
• Assess patient/family educational needs and readiness to learn.
• Develop and update nursing care plan with input from interdisciplinary team and patient/family.
• Initiate and coordinate communication with physicians and other providers.
• Assess response to treatment and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Prioritize care for assigned patients as status changes.
• Actively participate in discharge planning from admission.
• Administer prescribed medications and educate patient/family about medications.
• Provide pain management and patient/family support.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate patient status changes to shift charge nurse, physician, and other healthcare team members.
