Job summary

The Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas is seeking a Residential Behavioral Health Specialist to work in an Emergency Shelter for homeless veterans. This position involves assisting clients with independent living skills and coordinating care efforts with various stakeholders.

The successful candidate will engage veterans in goal-oriented tasks and provide support in achieving stable housing. Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with Veterans or individuals with SMI/SPMI in a residential setting.
• Ability to maintain effective rapport with clients and staff.
• Basic understanding of mental health and recovery models.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterans in achieving independent living skills and permanent housing.
• Supervise daily room checks for cleanliness and compliance.
• Coordinate with external providers to facilitate care for veterans.
