Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize instruments and supplies in the Sterile Processing department. The role requires following established policies, maintaining instrument integrity, and supporting case cart assembly.

The ideal candidate will have CRCST certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 1 year of MWHC SPD experience or 2 years external SPD I-level experience; willingness to work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CRCST certification.
• 1 year of MWHC SPD experience or 2 years external SPD I-level experience.
• Sterile Processing Technician training program preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in sterile processing practices, including instrument identification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, cleans, inspects, and assembles surgical instruments and medical devices per policy.
• Packages and wraps instruments to maintain sterility.
• Operates sterilization equipment (steam, low-temp systems, ETO, washer-disinfectors).
• Maintains records for sterilization loads and inventory.
• Delivers patient care equipment to units in a timely manner.
• Provides training support to new technicians and participates in process improvements.
