Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Sr. Laboratory Scientist to work full nights (2130-0730) in Transfusion Services in Norfolk, VA. The role includes performing laboratory testing, interpreting results, and ensuring accreditation readiness.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or biology/chemical science, ASCP/AMT/AAB certification, and at least 3 years of lab experience with blood bank exposure. Generous sign-on bonus available up to $20,000.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and interpret test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes; recommends contingency testing.
• Directly responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness.
