Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University seeks a Safe Patient Mobilization Technician (Transportation Aide Lift Team) in Portland. You will assist clinical staff with safe patient lifts, transfers, and repositioning, using equipment and proper body mechanics to promote safety for patients and caregivers.

The role requires lifting 50 pounds and pushing 300 pounds, with extensive collaboration across hospital departments. A full-time schedule includes night hours and benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months experience in a medical or healthcare environment or 90 days training with patient transportation.
• Must complete in-house biohazardous items handling within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Rounds regularly, 3 times per 8-hour shift, on inpatient ICU floors to assess patient needs before each lift or reposition.
• Responds to on-site lift/transfer requests within 30 minutes and coordinates with clinical staff and dispatch.
• Transports patients using wheelchair, stretcher, bed and morgue cart; uses transfer devices safely.
• Responds rapidly to patient falls or urgent situations (within 15 minutes) and assists with lift/transfer as needed.
• Transports medical equipment, labs and supplies within the OHSU environment; operates elevators when moving patients.
