Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Nurse Unit Coordinator for the Medical Specialties Unit. The role supports clinical leadership for patient care on a 42-bed unit with EPIC-enabled workflows and night shift coverage from 7pm to 7am.

Minimum 18 months nursing experience is required; a BSN is required and a Master’s is preferred if the graduate degree is not nursing. BLS is required within 90 days of hire and professional specialty certification is preferred.

• 18 months nursing experience required.
• BSN degree required; Master’s degree preferred if not in nursing, BSN required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire; professional specialty certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership in nursing care delivery.
• Leads safety and quality initiatives under the department manager and helps simplify workflow.
• Increases staff satisfaction and promotes excellent customer service in a Magnet-designated unit.
