Job summary

Metropolitan Council, the regional government for the Twin Cities area, is seeking Track Maintainers to perform track maintenance and inspections in compliance with DOT and internal rules. The role involves night shift work, equipment operation, and safety training as part of a six-month eligibility list process.

You must have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in railroad maintenance-of-way, with the ability to obtain a CDL and pass DOT-related exams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience as railroad maintenance-of-way worker.
• Ability to obtain CDL permits prior to hire; Class A CDL within 90 days; DOT physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair tracks, turnouts, at-grade crossings, lubrication machines and related equipment.
• Conduct and record track, turnout, and joint inspections.
• Operate hi-rail vehicles and track maintenance equipment.
• Assist with track surfacing, alignment, gauging, and snow removal.
• Update maintenance records and reports; manage spare parts inventory.
