Job description

The Southern Stone Company is looking to add a Night Shift Quarry Crusher Mechanic to the team that would be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of the rock crushing machinery and other associated equipment. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems to ensure that all machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity and operational success of the Quarry. This is a full-time position that reports to the Quarry Manager onsite in Jackson, Missouri.

Job Responsibilities but not limited to

· Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on crushing equipment, including jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, conveyors of all sizes.

· Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform repairs as necessary to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Replace worn or damaged components including belts, bearings, skirt board rubber, and other critical parts while adhering to safety protocols.

· Assist with the setup and dismantling of machinery for new projects or site relocations. Ensure that all equipment operates at peak efficiency and within regulatory compliance.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs completed, and parts inventory to support operational efficiency and budgeting. Report any significant mechanical issues or safety concerns to management in a timely manner, recommending solutions or corrective actions.

· Work closely with other mechanics, operators, and management to foster a collaborative work environment focused on safety and productivity.

· Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations set forth by the company and MSHA regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed on current safety practices and equipment operation standards.

· Identify areas for improvement in equipment performance and maintenance procedures, contribute ideas to enhance operational efficiency.

· Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in rock crushing technology to recommend potential upgrades or new equipment investments.

· Complete other job task as assigned by the Quarry Manager.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent required technical certification in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.

· Proven experience as a mechanic, in the quarry or sand and gravel, mining or heavy equipment industry. With a strong emphasis on rock crushers.

· Understanding of hydraulic pneumatic, and electrical systems as they relate to machinery operation and maintenance.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to colleagues and management.

· Physical Requirements ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physical demanding tasks in outdoor environments in different weather conditions and various land terrains.

· Must have two valid forms of identification.

· Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment drug screening.

· Ability to work up to 12-hour night shifts and weekends.
