Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation is seeking a Production Mechanic to maintain and repair production machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operations in our manufacturing facilities across the United States. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, fabricate parts as needed, and support operators to minimize downtime.

This role requires a strong mechanical background, ability to read blueprints, and commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical disciplines is a plus.
• Mechanically inclined with high mechanical aptitude.
• Proven experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
• Ability to effectively use computers and technology.

Responsibilities

• Machine maintenance and repair: conduct routine maintenance tasks to keep equipment in top condition.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform repairs, adjustments, or replacements of faulty components.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules for production equipment.
• Replace worn parts proactively to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
• Commit to safety protocols and regulatory compliance; wear PPE as required.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and fabrication work.
• Collaborate with production teams to prioritize and address equipment issues.
• Provide technical support and guidance to operators and maintenance staff.
