Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer for a 3rd shift (10:30pm–7am), onsite in Tennessee. You will design, program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robotic, and automated production systems to keep equipment safe, productive, and compliant with company standards.

You will lead projects from design through startup, develop and modify PLC/HMI programs, pursue process improvements, and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to drive

• Experience designing, programming, and maintaining PLC, CNC, and robotic automation systems.
• Proven ability to lead automation projects from design to startup.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving in manufacturing environments.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage PLC and automation projects from design to startup.
• Develop and modify PLC, HMI, robotic, and CNC programs.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot control systems to minimize production interruptions.
• Lead upgrades and equipment integration projects.
• Ensure safety standards, LOTO, and electrical codes are met.
• Support quality initiatives and corrective actions.
• Maintain PLC architecture, Ethernet, ControlNet, and related networks.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS.
• Participate in root-cause analysis for failures.
• Maintain documentation and backups for reliability and compliance.
• Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
