Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the night-shift team in Hinsdale, IL. The role supports nursing care for patients, under RN supervision, and participates in safety and quality initiatives. Requires a High School Grad, 1+ PCT experience, and CPR/BLS plus CNA/CPCT/A or EMT certification.

The position offers a part-time schedule (24 hours/week) with weekend and holiday rotation, and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• 1+ applicable PCT experience.
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit or equivalent medical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR and CNA/CPCT/A/EMT certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and supports quality standards.
• Follows isolation guidelines and uses protective equipment.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in delivering patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents procedures per department policy.
• Obtains nursing history and reports abnormalities to the RN.
