Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for Jersey City Medical Center. This part-time night-shift role supports RNs with vital signs, mobility, and daily patient care in the Medical-Surgical Unit-I.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED and a current BLS certification; CNA experience is preferred. The position offers hourly pay between $22.00 and $27.45 with night and some weekend hours.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Previous nursing assistant experience or CNA certificate preferred.
  • Monday–Friday schedule from 11pm to 7:30am with every other weekend and some holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide nursing care including vital signs, ECGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Monitor vital signs and track patient health status.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Communicate with patients, families and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
  • Support emergency response with BLS skills such as CPR when needed.
  • Provide patient care appropriate to the patient’s age and needs.
  • Collaborate with the care team from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitions.
