Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team in Med/Surg. You will assist with daily living activities, collect specimens, monitor vitals, and help with procedures under RN supervision. Strong communication and resilience are essential in a busy inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate documentation, and teamwork across shifts, with rotations including nights and every other weekend. Certification in BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with venipuncture and EKG.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for patient care tasks.
• 1–9 months healthcare experience preferred.
• Certified in American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS.
• Ability to set priorities and solve problems in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care and activities of daily living.
• Record vital signs and intake/output as assigned.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility and orientation to the clinical setting.
• Deliver and collect patient trays and assist with meals and menus.
• Maintain safe, clean environment and care for equipment.
• Prepare for procedures and support clinical staff as needed.
