Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the third shift (nights) in Topeka, KS. The role involves performing a wide range of tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate results to support patient diagnoses. A Bachelor’s in MLS/CLS or related field is required, with ASCP certification typically preferred.

36 hours per week; non-exempt status. Experience with specimen collection is valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Processes and handles blood and other specimens following established procedures.
• Performs clinical laboratory tests across hematology, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, and immunohematology.
• Maintains and troubleshoots analytical systems and equipment.
• Participates in proficiency testing and contributes to new procedures or equipment validation.
• Educates and trains new staff, students, and interns; provides feedback and competency assessment.
• Ensures compliance with CLIA and laboratory leadership expectations.
