Job summary

Unity Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nurse (LPN) for its Department of Corrections program in Washington, DC. This full-time night-shift role conducts patient intake, records histories, performs nursing procedures, and supports coordinated patient care.

Qualified candidates have an accredited practical nursing program, a DC license or eligibility, and at least one year in ambulatory care, with experience serving underserved populations. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license in Washington, DC, or eligibility to obtain DC licensure.
• At least one year of experience in an ambulatory care setting.
• Experience with homelessness or other special-needs populations desired.
• Ability to work night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vital signs and initial medical histories.
• Conduct patient intake and initiate prescribed care plans.
• Perform routine nursing procedures and venipuncture when appropriate.
• Administer medications and immunizations per procedures.
• Assist with pelvic exams, incision and drainage, and wound care.
• Document care promptly and coordinate with external referrals.
• Provide health education to patients and families.
• Monitor medications and supplies; support clinical operations.
