Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 6-month temporary night shift assignment. The role runs 3 twelve-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every other weekend rotation, in the Byron Center, MI area.

The position requires MI LPN licensure and involves direct patient care, medication administration, crisis management, and collaboration with RNs for admissions/discharges, within a psychiatric care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory, and practice, with previous psychiatric clinical experience desired.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in providing general nursing care.
• Current LPN Licensure in the State of Michigan Required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care according to nursing care plans and the patient’s treatment plan.
• Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Assists with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion and restraint, under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Partners with RN with patient admissions and discharges.
• Administers medication and treatments to patients. Assists with medication education, informed consent and monitoring the effectiveness and efficacy of medications. Documents the administration of medications and treatments according to policies and procedures.
