Capable in San Francisco seeks a Night-shift Laboratory Animal Technician to support mouse studies and vivarium operations. You will enable overnight timepoints, perform careful animal work, and ensure reliable handoffs to the day team.

Qualifications

• Ability and willingness to commit long-term to night-shift schedule and operate independently.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory animals in biotech, pharma, academia, or related setting.
• Comfort with basic husbandry, mouse handling or dosing procedures, and keeping accurate study records.
• Ability to follow protocols, document decisions, and escalate when the day-team contact is unavailable.
• Strong attention to animal welfare, sample integrity, cleanliness, and detail.
• Ability to work independently and hand off work clearly to the day team.

Responsibilities

• Execute overnight study activities, including dosing, observations, collections, and time-sensitive procedures.
• Dose mice using routes such as IP, IV, SC, PO, and intranasal in accordance with study protocols.
• Collect, process, label, track, and store blood and tissue samples for day-team analysis.
• Conduct overnight animal-welfare checks, document observations, and elevate issues per protocols.
• Support surgeries and EEG studies with training where appropriate.
• Perform routine husbandry and vivarium duties; maintain a clean, stocked environment.
• Provide concise, complete morning handoffs covering completed work, deviations, animal-health concerns, samples, and open issues.
