Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is seeking a Custodial Worker 1 at Danville State Hospital to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for patients, staff and visitors. This hands-on role focuses on daily cleaning, equipment care, and sanitation to support hospital operations.

The position requires flexibility for night shifts, full-time schedule (37.5 hours weekly), and adherence to safety and employment policies, including background checks and medical examination

Qualifications

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under Older Adult Protective Services Act; submits to criminal history checks including PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning tasks: surface cleaning, trash removal, floor washing, fixtures cleaning and other housekeeping duties.
• Outdoor care: sweep steps/ramps, clean entrances, remove snow/ice as needed.
• Equipment maintenance: clean surfaces, inspect cords, check for defects.
• Laundry support: assist with pickup and delivery of laundry items.
• Supply organization: maintain closets, label containers, stock infection control supplies.
