Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia's UVA Community Health in Virginia is seeking an EKG/Telemetry Technician for night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). The role supports cardiac monitoring, telemetry setup, data entry, and coordination with care teams in our community hospitals and outpatient locations.

Responsibilities include interpreting cardiac rhythms, applying telemetry as directed, maintaining documentation, and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Experience: Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
• Licensure: N/A
• Additional Skills/Requirements: Medical terminology and CPR-basic. Ability to operate electronic and computer-based equipment. Ability to recognize technical inferior EKG and take corrective action as appropriate. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cardiac monitor interpretation, skills, and abilities. Must practice appropriate communication skills and sensitivity to patient's needs. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, principles of growth and development over the life span and to accommodate cultural diversity among the patients being served. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status, to identify each patient's population specific or behavioral needs and provide the care as needed. Must be able to effectively teach others on cardiac rhythms. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures and functions for electro diagnostics.
• Observes cardiac monitors and identifies, calculates, interprets, and communicates information regarding cardiac rhythms.
• Applies and discontinues telemetry services as instructed.
• Enters edits, and other paperwork as applicable to the department.
• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
