Job summary

Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, IN is seeking a Night Shift Certified Nursing Assistant to support patients on the 4S medical surgical unit. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, you provide personal care, help with mobility, and record routine measurements.

You will work on the night shift to maintain a safe and calm environment, assist with meals and daily living activities, and communicate changes to the care team promptly.

Qualifications

• Indiana CNA certification currently active on the registry.
• BLS certification at hire or within onboarding period.
• Experience using electronic health records and clear communication with care team.
• Completion of hospital orientation and demonstrated competency.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments and participate in shift report and huddles.
• Assist with activities of daily living while preserving dignity.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of mobility equipment per care plan.
• Document vital signs and observations; report abnormalities to the nurse.
• Observe changes in condition and escalate urgent concerns.
• Carry out fall prevention, rounding, skin protection, and observation measures.
• Aid with meals, hydration, and specimen collection; communicate concerns.
• Prepare rooms and supplies for admission, transfer, discharge; assist transport.
• Document care accurately and communicate needs at handoff.
• Follow PPE and safety policies; protect patient information.
• Work cooperatively with nurses and team; adapt as needs change.
