Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Clinical Laboratory Technician to prepare patient specimens for analysis and provide technical support for a specific clinical service.

Responsibilities include consulting with providers and lab supervisors on specimen suitability, troubleshooting equipment and workflow, assisting in teaching CLS students, monitoring daily operations, and performing specimen processing with quality control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; higher-level degree may satisfy.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers and/or laboratory supervisor regarding specimen suitability, procedures, media preparation or instrument function checks.
• Investigates and troubleshoots problems with equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents and/or workflow.
• May assist in teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, fellows, visiting scientists and/or new employees.
• May monitor daily operation of a specific clinical service or program.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• Performs specimen processing procedures. Provides quality control and equipment maintenance.

Education
