Job summary

Cedar Creek Hospital of Michigan is seeking a Behavioral/Psychiatric Health Technician to support daily patient care in a state-of-the-art 81-bed facility. The role involves safety assessments and individualized care within an integrated medicine approach including yoga, mindfulness, and nutrition.

Shifts are 3–12 hours with an every other weekend rotation, 7pm–7:30am, reflecting a night schedule at Cedar Creek Hospital. Training and benefits are provided as part of this opportunity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR certification is required or can be obtained after hire.
• Experience working as a psychiatric technician is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Human Services is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the ongoing assessment of the safety and emotional needs of each patient.
• Demonstrate awareness of treatment plans and provide intervention/care accordingly on an individualized basis.
• Assist patients with grooming and personal hygiene.
• Participate in groups and activities to meet the needs of various patient populations.
• Maintain therapeutic and professional rapport with patients.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu; provide verbal de-escalation and, if needed, physical management.
• Make rounds every 15 minutes or sooner to ensure patient safety.
• Assist the RN with admissions, discharges, vital signs, belongings searches, and orientation to the unit.
