Job summary

NeoGenomics in Fort Myers, FL is seeking an Accessioning Technician I to ensure proper handling of specimens and prepare samples for testing.

This entry-level role covers data entry, labeling, and preparation tasks in a fast-paced lab, with a Monday–Friday night shift 11:00pm–7:30am, and requires strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years experience as Accessioning Technician preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards.
• Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Receives and sorts specimens for testing.
• Reviews requisitions for missing information and coordinates with Client Services.
• Timely data entry into LIS, label samples, create folders, and generate travel documents.
• Assembles case paperwork and files, including pre-analytic documentation and labels.
• Performs entry of add-on testing and coordinates split specimens.
• Sends out specimens to reference laboratories and maintains logs.
• Performs quality assurance checks of samples.
• Oversee chain of custody for slides/blocks and reconcile block logs.
• Identify and report quality or compliance concerns and take corrective action.
