Position summary:

Stockers are responsible for manually placing items that are being sold in commissaries onto the appropriate display areas to include shelves, stand-alone displays and into freezer sections and coolers as necessary to present a fully stocked area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Stockers must be able to stock the standard number of cases per hour which is set at 45 cases per hour for Dry goods and 40 cases per hour for chill and frozen. Failure to uphold this standard can result in disciplinary actions being taken and or termination of employment. Below is a list of stocking duties:

A. Stockers will clean all shelf areas in their sections prior to stocking. Shelf areas that are not accessible due to staged merchandise will be cleaned during the stocking process. All old merchandise will be dusted to preclude dust build up. Stockers are responsible to ensure that their shelves and shelf moldings and ESL rails and ESL labels are free of dust (to include NIS areas), tape, spills and self-adhesive backing prior to stocking new merchandise. The Project Manager/Supervisor/Lead will inspect the shelves to ensure that they have been properly cleaned prior and after the actual stocking.

B. The merchandise you will stock will be transported from the staging area to the appropriate store aisle location by means of hand pallet jacks. Once merchandise has been transported to the proper store aisle, the cases will be pulled from the pallets and stacked on the floor in front of the proper shelf location and or commodity.

Tasks:

  • Pull pallets of merchandise from the warehouse to store locations to facilitate stocking.
  • The stockers will item stock all merchandise unless authorization for dump or bulk stocking is given.
  • All items will be stocked in the allocated shelf space in accordance with the number of facings identified by the shelf label.
  • All merchandise that is stocked will be faced and fronted during stocking.
  • Stockers will also stock in accordance with First-In First-Out (FIFO). All merchandise will be rotated by the month and year of the expiration date except for baby formula, which will be rotated by the day.
  • Stockers will take care not to damage commissary merchandise. All merchandise with loose labels will be repaired with tape and stocked.
  • Any merchandise found to be damaged, will not be stocked, but will segregated by food and non-food categories and then placed into carts for disposition.
  • As cardboard is generated it will be BROKEN DOWN and placed in cardboard bins, that are available in the store for this purpose. Normally cardboard bins will be placed at the ends of the stocking aisles.
  • Place all merchandise from pallets and place on the floor to the right of its designated shelf placement.
  • Cut open boxes using issued box cutters and abide by safety procedures of using box cutters. and stock merchandise to the shelf.
  • Load onto pallets all cases of merchandise that cannot fit on the allocated shelf space, place these at the ends of your aisle so they may be counted and returned to the warehouse.
