Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services seeks a Security Officer II in Abilene, TX to safeguard residents and facilities at the Abilene State Supported Living Center. You will monitor premises, respond to alarms, and coordinate with local authorities during emergencies.

This full-time, night-shift position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Texas driver’s license. Eligible for telework none; comprehensive benefits include health insurance and a defined benefit pension plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 12 months of work experience required.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may work night shifts or rotating schedules.
• Monitors surveillance cameras and reports emergencies immediately.
• Patrols buildings and grounds to deter unauthorized activity.
• Responds to fire alarms and assists with drills and life-safety checks.
• Disseminates and coordinates emergency responses and communicates with management and law enforcement as needed.
• Apprehends suspects when possible and prepares incident reports.
• Trains and mentors new security officers as needed.
• Participates in mandatory training to maintain job competence.
