Job summary

Harvard Protection Services hires a Security Officer to provide professional customer-focused security and life safety services for people and property we protect.

You will maintain a visible presence, greet visitors, patrol areas, monitor alarms, and prepare incident reports. A valid security guard license and a high school diploma or GED are required; reliable transport and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses.
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent.
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat and professional appearance.
• Write routine correspondence, to include log entries and incident reporting.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor aiding customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility or building assigned.
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Become familiar with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
• Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, and guests in a professional manner.
• Answer all phones in a professional manner.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances/exits.
• Enforce facility policies within the position's limits.
• Perform required patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
• Observe departing personnel to protect company property and ensure proper removal.
• Follow established emergency action plans and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and systems and prepare incident reports as directed.
