Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide adult and geriatric care under limited supervision and supervise others as delegated.

You will perform pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, ventilator management, and participate in documentation and training of new staff. This role requires RCP license, NBRC credentials preferred, and certification commitments including BLS/NRP/ACLS/PALS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• RCP license required; NBRC credentials preferred.
• BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and documents the appropriateness of prescribed therapy for patients receiving respiratory care.
• Administers aerosol and oxygen therapy; manages ventilated patients and associated paperwork.
• Performs arterial blood gases; updates charts and records for charges and documentation.
• Monitors equipment; trains and supervises new staff; assists physicians with procedures.
• Ensures compliance with care protocols and participates in quality improvement activities.
