Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Psychiatric Technician – Behavioral Health at UM Capital Region Health in Largo, MD for full-time night shift (7:30pm-8:00am). You will perform intake, assist in evaluating patients, and support the therapy process under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include implementing the plan of care, ensuring patient safety, assisting with milieu activities, documentation, and coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharge as needed.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
• BLS-Healthcare Provider certification required.
• 1–3 years of experience in mental health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides care based on the patient’s plan of care under RN supervision.
• Maintains cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, and elimination needs.
• Reports observations to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and monitors at-risk patients.
• Participates in milieu activities and assists with activities therapy.
• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Observes patient behavior and intervenes during escalation or suicidal behavior as directed.
