Albany Med is seeking a Phlebotomist for night shifts to collect specimens for clinical laboratory analysis in a hospital setting. The role requires patient-centered care, strong communication, and adherence to safety and departmental guidelines.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma/G.E.D. and phlebotomy training; six months of direct patient care experience is preferred. BCLS certification is required upon hire, with opportunities for ongoing education and teamwork across departments.

Formación

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required.
• Formal Phlebotomy training or equivalent direct patient care training - preferred.
• Some phlebotomy experience - required.
• Minimum six months of direct patient care experience or nursing program or enrolled in healthcare program - preferred.
• For outpatient services, pediatric experience, the ability to transcribe orders, and experience in transport of specimens to the lab - preferred.
• Use effective written and verbal communication skills to cooperatively work with customers and employees.
• Listen well, take directions and engage in interactive dialogue with others.
• Comprehend, remember and carry out instructions; communicate questions to a preceptor or supervisor as needed.
• Seek input of others to achieve consensus.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in units of measure.

Responsabilidades

• Collect specimens for clinical laboratory analysis in a safe and effective manner.
• Read and interpret prescriptions, requisitions, safety rules, and procedures.
• Complete technical and clinical procedures for which trained.
• Provide care and services appropriate to the age of patients served.
• Communicate with nursing staff, physicians and other departments.
• Use computer systems to enter collection times, codes and comments.
• Respond to scheduling changes and adapt to departmental needs.
• Maintain competency and pursue continuing education.
