Job summary

CVS Health in Chattanooga is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to oversee the pharmacy, counsel patients, and administer immunizations as part of a full-time team. You will supervise bench shifts, guide staff, and ensure safe dispensing and workflow compliance to deliver high-quality care.

Applicants must hold an active Pharmacist License in the store state and an active NPI, and must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list. This role requires flexible scheduling and ~40 hours per week.

  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.

Job Purpose and Summary

The role focuses on transforming health care for customers by improving access, lowering costs, and being a trusted partner. Inside CVS Health retail locations, Staff Pharmacists cultivate a culture of excellence, support the Pharmacy Manager, and oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and feedback.
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s health team and resolving insurance or medication issues.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
  • Implement effective inventory management, with a focus on protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, and assist in writing schedules when directed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including required trainings and CME’s, and pursue knowledge to support patients.
  • Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permitted.
  • Understand and comply with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies to support patient safety and workplace inclusion.
Required Qualifications

Essential Functions

    • Use math to solve problems such as determining tablets, day’s supply, and bottle quantities.

    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Mobile and upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and use fingers primarily.
    • Move items and adjust machines with precision; stoop to lift up to 20 lbs. (frequently up to 10 lbs.).
    • Exhibit precise visual acuity for detailed tasks.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in other locations as business needs require.
Anticipated Weekly Hours

40 hours per week.

Time Type

Full time.

Pay Range

$60.00 – $76.00 per hour.
