Job summary

UF Health is seeking a full-time Paramedic for night shift (7pm–7am) to operate under the medical direction of the ED Medical Director and supervising RN. You will provide patient care per physician orders, document findings, and coordinate with the RN and ED physicians.

Required: Florida Paramedic License, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, PALS within 6 months, NRP within 6 months, GED or HS diploma. Preferred: 1–2 years in hospital EMS; Associate degree in Allied Health/EMS.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Allied Health/EMS.
• Current Florida Paramedic License.
• BLS Provider required.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• PALS within 6 months of hire.
• NRP within 6 months of hire.
• Less than one year as paramedic.
• 1-2 years paramedic experience in hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect pertinent data within certification scope and report to RN and ED Physician.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care under medical direction.
• Follow physician orders, policies and procedures to meet patient care standards.
• Collaborate with ED staff to ensure efficient patient flow and safety.

Overview

Full-time Night 7pm to 7am.

The paramedic functions under the medical direction of the Medical Director and/or supervising ED attending with general supervision of the RN. The paramedic provides care for patients in accordance with physician's orders, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies. Provides direct and indirect patient care while adhering to the mission and objectives of the hospital in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and families. The paramedic will be responsible for collecting pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and will report all clinical, psychosocial, etc. findings to the RN and ED Physician.

Qualifications

Required Education

• GED or High School Diploma
• Preferred Education Associates Degree (i.e. Allied Health Science, EMS, etc.)

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Current State of Florida Paramedic License
• BLS Health Care Provider (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire.
• PALS within 6 months of hire.
• NRP within 6 months of hire.

Required Experience

• Less than one year as paramedic

Preferred Experience

• 1-2 years paramedic experience in a hospital setting, previous EMS Dispatch experience, and/or 2 years ED patient care including triage experience
