Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a MS Night Custodian to provide custodial coverage, support evening events, and perform routine maintenance. Flexibility in hours is required for events and building emergencies, with a focus on cleanliness, security, and safe operations.

The role requires one year custodial experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lift 75 lbs plus operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required prior to start date.
• One year of custodial related duties experience.
• Ability to read work orders and safety procedures; communicate effectively with staff and the public.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use standard hand tools.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties: mop, sweep, vacuum, restock supplies and sanitize restrooms.
• Support events and rentals with setup, teardown and space preparation.
• Replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, HVAC filters and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Complete nightly checks, respond to service requests and document issues promptly.
• Maintain inventory, place supply orders and monitor building security and safety.
