Job summary

Memorial Hermann Northeast Campus is seeking a Medical Technologist or MLT to join the team on Nights. Schedule is 7 on/7 off, 8:30 to 7 a.m.

The position performs laboratory tests and procedures as assigned, ensuring high quality results and adherence to policies. Education requires a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science with equivalency for foreign education; MT/MLS certifications (ASCP/AMT/ASCP-International) are expected or certification eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science; equivalency considered for foreign education.
• Licenses/Certifications: MT (ASCP) or MT (AMT); Certified MLS (ASCP/ASCP-International); Certified CLS (ASCP); Certified MLS (ASCP/ASCP-International) CM or ASCP Certification eligible.
• ASCP Certification Eligible: NAACLS MLS program within last 5 years; or MLT (ASCP) with 2 years of full-time lab experience in listed areas in last 4 years; or CLA Certification with biology degree and 4 years of experience in listed areas in last 8 years; or 5 years of full-time clinical lab experience in listed areas in last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and corrective actions.
• Manages daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting/distribution, personnel direction, and clerical duties as needed.
• Interacts with hospital staff, volunteers, physicians and patients regarding specimens and orders, and reporting results per policy/procedure.
• Complies with policies and standards of Laboratory Services, hospital, and system; adheres to governmental and accrediting agency standards (TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, CLIA).
• Promotes quality patient care, customer service, safety, cost efficiency, and PI process.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time management; manages supplies and productivity.
• Supports professional growth; serves as preceptor/mentor; contributes to departmental goals; models Memorial Hermann service standards.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences for every community member.
