Job summary

InterChange Express is seeking a Shuttle Driver for the night shift in Harrisonburg, VA. The role involves local shuttle work moving refrigerated and dry trailers between customer locations and company facilities, on a 12-hour shift in a 14-day rotating schedule, with every-other-weekend work and occasional holidays.

Requirements include a CDL-A with a clean driving record, a current Medical Examiner's Certificate, ability to lift 75 pounds, and strong reading/writing skills for documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum H.S. degree preferred
• Must hold a current CDL-A with a driving record acceptable to company insurance carrier
• Must hold a current Medical Examiner's Certificate
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds at shoulder height
• Must be able to read and write well enough to understand and complete required documentation
• Ability to enter and exit truck cab safely and repeatedly during the work shift
• Ability to crank landing gear, operate 5th wheel release, connect air/electrical lines without difficulty and repeatedly during work shifts
• Ability to properly secure loads using provided straps and other equipment
• Ability to repeatedly open & close trailer & shipping container doors throughout the workday
• Pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical are required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicle in full compliance with laws and regulations
• Conduct local shuttle of refrigerated and dry trailers between customer locations and company facilities
• Work a regular 12-hour shift on a 14-day rotating schedule, including every other weekend and some holidays
• Report conditions of trucks/trailers to company staff and avoid unsafe equipment
• Maintain required paperwork, logs, and shipping documents accurately
• Follow all safety rules and promote positive relationships with customers and staff
• Be flexible to a range of assignments while on duty
• Perform duties to support growth, profitability and success of the company
• Complete duties safely, quickly and efficiently to minimize costs
