Job summary

Willis Knighton Health's WK Pierremont laboratory seeks a highly organized lab assistant for the night shift in Shreveport, LA. The role supports routine and non-routine specimen preparation and reporting of results, with independent work and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; computer experience and basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Must be able to meet department physical requirements.
• Work in a noisy, chemically hazardous and biohazardous environment with safety practices.
• Good verbal and written communication with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to reflect good judgment when resolving problems.
• Ability to work well under stress while maintaining production and quality.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens from inpatient and outpatient areas and deliver to core laboratory areas.
• Send and track referred specimens using site batches, worksheets and outstanding reports.
• Utilize LIS order entry, specimen receipt, report lookup and printing functions.
• Participate in training programs and orientation during initial start date.
• Maintain compliance and specimen integrity through careful problem solving.
