Job summary

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for intake and ongoing psychiatric care. The role involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing nursing care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal behavioral health services.

Requires ADN or BSN, Texas RN license, and at least 2 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or related fields. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus; 21+ years old. Full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• ADN or BSN from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients and supervise medication schedules and evaluate progress.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for patients.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.
• Provide social support and encourage participation in support groups and other therapies.
• Conduct intake assessments through patient and family interviews to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients and develop care plans.
• Make nursing diagnoses and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff in designing treatment plans.
• Administer medications and monitor reactions to psychotropic drugs.
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary and ensure timely follow-ups.
• Assist patients in understanding their mental health needs and treatment options.
• Keep accurate charts and records and comply with regulations.
• Test for pain, document findings, and manage pain as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of treatments.
