Job summary

Yale New Haven Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health System, seeks a full-time Night Hospitalist (Internal Medicine) to join its inpatient team. The position operates on a 7 nights on / 7 days nights schedule, offering an academic environment with a balanced lifestyle within our network of hospitals.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed Internal Medicine residency.
• Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.
• Connecticut medical license, CS Registration, and DEA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care, manage admissions, and support continuity of care in collaboration with the daytime and overnight teams.
• Lead care coordination with interdisciplinary teams – nursing staff, consultants, case managers, and ancillary services – for optimal outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evaluate outcomes, and help implement process improvements in inpatient medicine.
• Serve as a professional leader and role model, participating in hospital committees, promoting best practices, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications

Education:

• M.D. or D.O., with completion of an ACGME – accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
• Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.
• Must secure a Connecticut medical license, Controlled Substance Registration, and DEA certification.
• Must obtain attending medical staff privileges at respective YNHHS entity.

Experience:

• Two (2) years caring for medicine inpatients as resident and/or attending physician.

Licensure:

• Hold a valid Connecticut medical license,
• Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and
• Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification.
