Job summary

You will answer questions about products, suggest items, monitor freshness and temperatures, and help keep shelves stocked and organized in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions, making suggestions
• Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get what they need and inform them of specials
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs kept
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needs
• Notify management of accidents
• Report safety risks or illegal activity; including robbery, theft or fraud
• Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodation
