Job Summary
The Night General Clerk is responsible for stocking, facing, and rotating merchandise during overnight hours in the Grocery department, maintaining a clean, attractive store image and price integrity for customers.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Receiving, sorting, and organizing stock inventory to be placed on store shelves.
- Stocking shelves and products in a clean, organized, and presentable manner according to company standards.
- Unloading trucks as assigned by department management.
- Monitoring shelf price and product integrity, restocking to ensure accuracy, proper rotation, and quality protection.
- Adhering to company procedures for case cutting to minimize potential damage to products.
- Moving inventory to applicable storage and workload areas.
- Replenishing products in various departments as directed.
- Moving products in and out of storage areas for proper display and storage, including refrigeration.
- Handling damaged or spoiled products according to company policy and controlling the level of damaged goods.
- Monitoring expiration dates of labeled goods to ensure fresh products are available for purchase.
- Maintaining a clean, attractive, and friendly department image.
- Reporting malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment to store management immediately.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
- Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
- Awareness of grocery products and categories for proper handling and storage.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Precision in checking and recording inventory to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Proficiency in inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with staff and documenting activities.

- Identify and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies or storage problems.

Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8‑hour shifts.
- Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, and squatting.
- Climb ladders to perform warehouse tasks at elevated heights.
- Use fine motor skills for handling tools or small objects.
- Operate equipment to move or store products and displays.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and move quickly to manage workload.
- Maintain physical stamina for a fast‑paced environment.
Work Conditions
- Hours: Vary, requiring availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically 8‑hour shifts for full‑time employees.
- Environment: Indoor, climate‑controlled, with adequate lighting and ventilation.
- Primary Work Stations: Sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas of the store.
- Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire such as company‑issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts in approved colors, in good repair.
- Exposure: Possible to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals.
- Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods.
- Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast‑paced retail environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Over one year of Grocery Clerk experience preferred.
- Training: Completion of company’s OSHA‑accredited forklift training.
Location & Reporting
Location: PAQ, Inc., Store Location. Reports to Manager, Night Crew. Employee type: Regular, Full‑Time, Non‑Exempt. Travel Required: No.
Compensation
Pay Range: $16.90 – $22.00 per hour.
