Job summary

UNC Health’s Behavioral Health Emergency Department (BHED) seeks a Clinical Nurse for a 36-hour-per-week, 12-hour night shift position at the Chapel Hill location. The BHED operates 24/7 in a state-of-the-art unit capable of 42 beds, delivering patient-centered care for individuals with mental health or substance use concerns.

Responsibilities include providing competent nursing care, coordinating with the Nurse Manager, and using the nursing process to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after Jan 6, 2014, must enroll within four years and obtain a Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing within seven years.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs and provide patient education materials.
• Evaluation of care: participate in interdisciplinary evaluation and ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation: care for complex patients, prioritize and coordinate with team.
• Leadership: develop goals, participate in unit goals and performance improvement.
• Patient assessment: synthesize data to determine care priorities and discharge needs.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family to update the care plan.
