Job Description: Night Auditor

B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group, a subsidiary of the largest private real estate company in the Washington, D.C. area with over 130 years of operation, manages a portfolio of more than 20 business-class hotels, including brands from Intercontinental Hotel Groups, Marriott International, Hilton, and Best Western Hotels, along with The Watermark Hotel, The Hay-Adams Hotel, and Perch Putt. Our team comprises over 1,000 enthusiastic hospitality professionals.

This position is responsible for balancing and closing the previous business day's accounts and completing daily financial reports. The Night Auditor manages person-in-charge duties during the overnight shift, demonstrating sound judgment in decision-making and ensuring security protocols are followed. The role also involves assisting guests in a friendly, professional, and timely manner, adhering to B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group's high standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  1. Guest Service: Acts as the manager-on-duty during the 3rd shift, providing the highest level of guest service. Processes check-ins and check-outs, verifies billing, creates reservations, and handles special requests. Maintains knowledge of hotel property, local attractions, and hotel outlet hours. Works independently or in a team to meet guest needs and supports other departments as needed. Follows the guest service recovery program.
  2. Audit: Balances all revenue sources accurately and completes daily financial reports. Processes no-show reservations and prepares financial reports for managerial review. Closes the financial day for the hotel.
  3. Financial Results and Cost Control: Utilizes proper selling techniques to maximize room revenues, monitors room availability, and enforces booking policies. Drives sales through up-selling and adheres to procedures for handling cash and financial transactions. Uses equipment properly and follows cost control measures to reduce waste.
  4. Self/Workload Management: Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work duties to meet volume requirements. Completes financial tasks, works on additional projects, stocks supplies, and assists other overnight staff. Attends all required meetings and adheres to work rules and procedures.
  5. Safety/Risk Management: Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with all regulations. Follows procedures for incidents and is knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of guest service experience, preferably in hospitality.
  • Prior night audit or accounting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail, customer focus, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
