Job description

The Night Auditor is responsible for the preparation and disposition of all Night Audit work. Responsible for the front desk operation during the overnight shift (Typically 11pm-7am). Primary responsibilities include: registering guests, making reservations, preparing daily reports, balancing transactions, and conducting security walks.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve guest issues and respond to emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well under stress and in high-pressure situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills in the workplace.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt as needed.
  • Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic.
  • Self-management skills.
  • Good listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintaining composure and objectivity under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Approach all guest and associate interactions in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance as per hotel standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag.
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Initiate and complete the End of Day process.
  • Run required reports for food and beverage audits.
  • Complete the Night Audit checklist daily.
  • Balance the day's work, including revenue, postings, and paperwork.
  • Maintain cashiering responsibilities and front office system operations.
  • Perform all front office functions during the shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.).
  • Ensure security checks are conducted regularly.
  • Handle guest requests and follow safety procedures.
  • Maintain proper record keeping.
  • Be familiar with all hotel policies and house rules.
  • Complete direct bills daily and manage account transfers.
  • Distribute work and train new Night Auditors as needed.
  • Run morning reports and manage newspaper delivery and express check-outs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and security of the property during night hours.
  • Handle lost and found items according to standards.
  • Complete reports and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Assist guests with food orders and service as needed, demonstrating professionalism.
  • Attend meetings and perform other duties as required.
