Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking an Armed Security Specialist to provide professional armed security services for personnel, facilities, and visitors. The role includes patrols, incident response, and executive protection duties, with a focus on de-escalation and safety.

Position is assigned to the night shift and requires compliance with extensive training, certifications, and a valid Arizona license; overtime may apply and there are opportunities for career growth within Emergency Management.

Qualifications

• Two years of armed security-related experience within a criminal justice system, security industry, corrections, law enforcement, or military police environment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass pre-employment background, drug and alcohol screening, and competency assessments within designated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access control.
• Conduct proactive patrols and respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies.
• Provide armed security and executive protection to county officials at public meetings and events.
• Document shift activities and incidents through timely written reports.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and security partners during emergencies.
• Participate in emergency response planning and drills with county departments.
