Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an experienced commissioning engineer to support pre-commissioning and commissioning of communications and SCADA for utility-scale solar, storage, and substations. This fully remote role involves travel to various job sites, with location details discussed during interview.

You will interpret site commissioning plans, coordinate with engineering, construction and QA teams, perform tests, document results, and drive safety and quality in all activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers and electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive issue resolution.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement site-specific commissioning plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction and QA teams on commissioning activities.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests including performance, functional and reliability tests of communications systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA/NEC and IEEE/ISO standards; adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Troubleshoot issues to optimize SCADA and site communications performance.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning reports with test results and corrective actions.

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.Job Description Summary:This role involves supporting the network and communications pre-commissioning and commissioning process to ensure the devices communicate properly during hot commissioning.This role is fully remote with regular travel to various job sites. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.Job Description:This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assignedPosition Responsibilities and Duties:Interpret and Implement site specific commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, SCADA to ensure alignment on commissioning activities.Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including performance testing, functional testing, and reliability testing of all communications systems.Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process to ensure optimal performance of SCADA and site communications systems.Prepare detailed commissioning reports, documenting test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United StatesFiber installation and testingEthernet installation and testingSerial communications installation and testing (Modbus, DNP, etc)SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioningKnowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.NETA and IEEE standards as related to utility scale solar generation, ie.
