Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, hires a Respiratory Therapist for its 170-bed facility offering 24/7 ER, NICU and surgical services. You will provide Respiratory Care under physician orders and department policies, including ventilator management and arterial blood gas analysis.

Under supervision of the Critical Care Director and Respiratory Department Manager, you will support NICU patients and participate in specialty transport, with a preferred NICU Level III

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Preferred experience in neonatal transport
• 5 years of verifiable experience
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• PALS, NRP, Blood Gas Technologist certified within 90 days.
• NICU experience, 3 years or more preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects.
• Sets-up and monitors mechanical ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatment, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, and understands the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure
