Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking an experienced Nursing Leader for the Newborn Nursery ICU. The role is a day shift, full-time position with a 40-hour week and a Monday–Friday schedule.

You will lead patient care teams, ensure nursing processes meet standards, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver safe, high-quality care for newborns. The position offers a structured work environment with emphasis on reliability, staff development, and regulatory compliance, including

Responsibilities

• Leads with high reliability principles framework with goal of zero harm.
• Oversees a positive, safe work environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Accountable for clinical practice and deployment of resources to ensure nursing standards.
• Conducts daily patient rounds, assesses care needs and monitors staff performance.
• Directs continuity of nursing assignments to optimize the care plan.
• Ensures nursing process is used to deliver a coordinated plan for each patient and family.
• Creates a collaborative, patient-focused environment and sustains clinical/service excellence.
• Maintains efficient unit operations, staffing, equipment, bed management and workflow.
• Implements nursing standards, policies and procedures.
• Holds multidisciplinary rounds to review care plans with providers and teams.
• Maintains compliance with JC and DPH regulatory standards.
• Keeps unit care standards aligned with organizational and compliance norms.
• Maintains current knowledge of nursing practice and certification.
• Participates in Nursing Staff Organization and governance activities.
• Coordinates team huddles to review new admissions and discharge planning.
• Drives accountability for patient experience outcomes in the unit.
