The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Park City, KS is seeking a CNC Machinist with 5-Axis experience to join our Advanced Material and Prototyping Lab. The role is full-time, onsite at our Park City location, with a 2nd shift schedule Monday–Friday and occasional weekends as needed.
A high school diploma and relevant CNC experience are required. Responsibilities include setting up and operating 5-Axis machines, inspecting parts for accuracy, and training new staff.

Responsibilities include set up and operation of various tools andequipment to create, modify, or repair precision parts. Monitorsthe machinery and conducts regular quality checks to ensure theyare running properly and that the parts are being producedaccording to specifications.
Machines and fabricates components by preparing and operatingmachines; works from complex drawings, prototype sketches,electronic files and/or verbal instructions. Responsible forproduction of high precision parts and performs complex setupsrequired to produce parts Troubleshoots issues with equipment, newprograms, and/or products; detects equipment malfunctions andmaintains machinery to ensure functionality Provides training andoversight of new hires and students
Ability to position self for inspection, construction ormaintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined,elevated and loud noise spaces. Ability to inspect work, materials,equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/ordetermining factors. Ability to communicate with others andaccurately exchange information. Ability to move, transport, and/ordeliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to use tools,equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includesdexterity in instrument manipulation. Ability to remain in astationary position. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/orstairs.
