Job summary

Careermine seeks a technical and operational leader for the site geology team in Elko, NV. You will guide geologists and technicians, drive safety performance, and deliver high-quality geological outputs, optimizing orebody knowledge and asset value through robust modeling and resource conversion.

You will mentor staff, define safety KPIs, manage conversion drilling and grade control programs, ensure knowledge capture into models, and coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Process,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree with equivalent experience.
• Over ten years' experience in mine geology or exploration.
• Minimum five years' in a senior role managing a team of technical and supporting technician roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of geologists and technicians, ensuring technical and professional development.
• Define and deliver safety KPIs for the team.
• Own and execute strategic conversion drilling programs to support resource and reserve conversion.
• Own and execute grade control drilling programs to de-risk near-term plans.
• Capture and integrate geological knowledge into models and the ongoing plan.
• Conduct detailed mine plan reviews with geologic risk assessment and mitigation planning.
• Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Safety and Finance.
• Monitor departmental KPIs to meet drilling, cost and ounce delivery targets.

Job description

Provide technical and operational leadership to the site geology team, including geologists and technicians, with accountability for safety performance, development, and delivery of high-quality geological outputs. The role is responsible for optimizing orebody knowledge and maximizing asset value through effective geological modeling, grade control, and resource conversion.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of geologists and technicians, ensuring technical and professional development, focused on building a world-class team
• Ensure safety KPIs are defined and delivered by the entire team
• Own and execute strategic conversion drilling programs focused on resource and reserve conversion supported by strong geologic interpretation and consideration for mining and processing
• Own and execute grade control drilling programs to effectively de-risk the near-term plan
• Ensure technical knowledge for geological mapping, drilling, and logging programs has been adequately captured and integrated into models and resulting plan
• Ensure detailed mine plan reviews with consideration for geologic risk and execute mitigation plan for near-term and LOM plan
• Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Safety, and Finance)
• Monitor departmental KPI's to ensure agreed work programs, drilling, cost, and ounce delivery targets are met
