WETA, the flagship public media station, seeks an Associate Producer, News to join the PBS NewsHour’s Production Unit in Arlington. You will write and produce daily on-air and online items, coordinating with correspondents and senior producers to craft concise, engaging news segments.

With a background in journalism, you will handle day-of-air tasks, develop pitches, and mentor junior staff while adapting to a fast-paced newsroom and occasional non-standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' journalism experience, preferably for a national outlet.
• Reporting or blogging experience required.

Responsabilités

• Write and produce broadcast copy, objectively and on deadline, for use in daily video news summaries.
• Research and help produce day-of-air and forward-looking segments with on-air correspondents and senior producers.
• Develop pitches for field segments with detailed story elements and interviewees for finished tapes.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of people with diplomacy and discretion.
• Help train and develop skills of junior team members as needed.
• Utilize computer technology to efficiently complete work.
