NewsNation is a fast-growing national news organization seeking a digital reporter/producer. The role is full-time and based in Chicago or New York with weekend and evening hours.

You will craft stories that matter to viewers and readers, edit wire and local content for a national audience, and create compelling headlines, clips, and social posts. You must have 3+ years in digital news and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.

Qualificações

• 3+ years working in news as a digital reporter or producer.
• Strong news judgment and ability to determine national appeal of local stories.
• Experience working with video and social media.
• Excellent communicator, both oral and written.

This position is for someone who understands news and storytelling, with a passion for serving our viewers and readers with stories that matter to them.

This full-time position will be based in either our Chicago or New York newsrooms and will include weekend and evening hours.

Position Description

• Create stories that maintain our high standards of journalism and differentiate our brand from our competitors
• Create or clip videos that help viewers and readers understand what matters in news stories
• Craft compelling headlines, push alerts and social posts while delivering stories that make a difference
• Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
• Showcase broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels
• Update NewsNation digital platforms (website, app, email, social) with breaking news and topical news of the day
• Pitch stories daily and develop multiple ideas off a single news topic that push stories forward
• Utilize SEO best practices
• Flexibility to adjust schedule and assignments as network’s needs evolve.

Qualifications

• 3+ years working in news as a digital reporter or producer.
• Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal
• Experience working with video and social media
• Excellent communicator, both oral and written
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Salary Range

$60,000 to $75,000 annually
